Lizzo has left fans in a state of confusion after sharing a cryptic video marking the “end of an era.” The 36-year-old Grammy winner posted a video on Instagram Thursday evening where she spray-painted over a large portrait from her 2022 album Special.

In the video, Lizzo was seen wearing black sheer tights, a black bodysuit, a cropped camo green jacket, and rhinestone-covered accessories, while playfully spraying red paint on the canvas.

The video ended with Lizzo exclaiming, “Bye b*tch,” as she laughed mischievously. She then added the caption, “End of an era.”

Lizzo followed up the cryptic post with another, more sentimental one, reminiscing on her Special album and its journey. “It’s the end of a very Special era. This album was my strut back into society after a hard 2020 & 2021,” she wrote in the caption. “I wanted to help people turn up the music, turn down the lights and get a feeling they’ll be alright. I wanted to remind people of how they may be broken but still perfect in their own way.”

The Truth Hurts artist expressed pride in the accomplishments she achieved with Special, including the Grammys, Emmys, and Platinum plaques, but emphasized that her biggest achievement was the legacy she’s creating through uplifting lyrics and music with real instruments. She thanked her fans and signed off with a heartfelt “Xoxo.”

Lizzo's post comes months after the latest update in a sexual harrassment lawsuit against her. In December of last year, she addressed the lawsuit, expressing surprise and hurt over the false accusations. The case, which involved former dancers and a stylist, was partially dismissed, with the singer stating she was "completely surprised" by the allegations. Lizzo denied claims of misconduct, including an incident at a sex show in Amsterdam, clarifying that the dancers chose to attend the event independently

The cryptic posts have left fans buzzing with speculation. Some wondered if Lizzo was signaling her exit from the music industry, especially after a previous Instagram post in March 2024 in which she hinted at quitting due to bullying. Others, however, are hopeful that the message signals the arrival of new music, with comments flooding in asking, “What’s going on?” and “What does this mean?”
