
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday gave one month's time to the PPP in intra-party elections case, and fixed petitions for disqualification of PTI lawmaker Jamshed Dasti for hearing on February 19.
A three-member ECP bench led by Member Sindh Nisar Durrani heard the case regarding the PPP intra-party election. Lawyer Sajid Tanoli appeared on behalf of the PPP and informed that bench that the intra-party election was held on January 6, 2021.
Tanoli said that the PPP's party elections were held for four years. He further said that a notice was received on February 6, at a time when the party chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, was in the US.
He sought one month's time from the bench. on that the bench adjourned the hearing until March 12.
Meanwhile, the ECP issued notices on the petitions for disqualification of Jamshed Dasti, PTI's National Assembly Member from NA-175 Muzaffargarh, and adjourned the hearing until February 19. The petitions filed by Amir Akbar and Zulfiqar Ahmed alleged discrepancies in Dasti's financial statements.
