Ellen DeGeneres has officially left the United States and is adjusting to life in the United Kingdom with the help of fellow former talk show host James Corden. The 66-year-old comedian and her wife Portia de Rossi, 52, have relocated to the Cotswolds, a celebrity-favored rural region in South West England.
While some reports suggest the move was politically motivated following Donald Trump’s election victory, sources indicate DeGeneres had already been considering leaving Hollywood due to her tarnished reputation after accusations of fostering a toxic workplace environment on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Corden, 46, who returned to the UK in 2024 after ending his CBS talk show, has been guiding DeGeneres and de Rossi through the transition. The trio was recently spotted celebrating de Rossi’s 52nd birthday at Chiltern Firehouse in London.
DeGeneres’ departure from Hollywood follows her canceled talk show, which aired its final episode on May 26, 2022. Despite attempting a comeback with her Netflix comedy special, For Your Approval in 2024, her career has largely remained on pause.
Insiders claim the couple sees this move as a permanent retirement, with no plans to return to Los Angeles or take on new projects. While DeGeneres may be stepping away from the spotlight, she still has Corden’s support as she navigates life across the pond.
