President Asif Ali Zardari has given assent to the appointment of six permanent and one ad-hoc judge in the Supreme Court.
The President signed the summary of judges' appointment on the advice of the Prime Minister. Justice Hashim Khan Kakar, Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui, Justice Salah Uddin Panhwar, Justice Shakeel Ahmed, Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim have been appointed as regular judges while Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb has been appointed for one year.
The PM sent the summary to the President on the recommendation of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan. After the signature of the President, the PM forwarded the summary to the Ministry of Law that issued notification of the judges' appointment.
The judges are likely to take oath on Thursday (today).
