YouTube musician Naomi King has publicly accused popular BookTuber Daniel Greene of sexual assault, sharing a video in which she recounts her allegations and reveals cease-and-desist letters sent by Greene’s legal team.

Greene, widely known for his “Fantasy News” updates and book reviews, has amassed a following of over 500,000 subscribers on YouTube. His channel covers mainstream fantasy books, personal writing, and updates about the fantasy genre, solidifying his status as a prominent figure in the BookTube community.

In May 2023, Greene announced on his community tab that he would be taking a break from his YouTube channel and social media for mental health reasons. He posted, “I will be stepping away from the channel and social media due to mental health concerns. Regularly scheduled videos will be on pause. Thank you for understanding.” However, during this hiatus, Naomi King alleges that Greene sexually assaulted her and later sent her a cease-and-desist letter in response to a video she posted discussing the incident.

King, in a viral 34-minute video, shared the details of her accusations. She began by stating, “Two years ago, YouTuber Daniel Greene threatened to wipe me off social media. So if I disappear, you’ll know who did it.” She then read from the cease-and-desist letter, which stated that legal action would be taken to block her from social media platforms. The letter was reportedly sent after King released a video titled “A Conversation about Manipulation, Consent, and Assault” in June 2023, where she described her experience and the alleged abuse she endured.

In the initial video, King did not directly name Greene but spoke of a “friend turned out to not be a friend” who allegedly assaulted her. She also mentioned being in contact with another person who claimed to have been assaulted by him, drawing a parallel to accusations made against other public figures, such as Neil Gaiman. In her recent video, King revealed that she had received the cease-and-desist letter accusing her of slander and defamation unless she removed the video. However, King asserts that she never mentioned Greene by name and refused to take the video down.

King also disclosed that, after the incident, she reached out to Greene’s fiancée to share her version of events. She called Greene “a lying, cheating piece of sh*t” and stated that she needed the fiancée to know that the alleged assault occurred when she was under the influence of drugs, while Greene was sober. King claims that she had asked Greene to bring her coffee to help sober up and have a conversation, but he allegedly came back later that night, sober, and pressured her into sexual activities they had previously agreed would not happen.

The video also includes a censored screenshot from another woman who claims that Greene raped her in 2016. The woman alleges that Greene used social justice issues to gain personal advantage, adding to the mounting allegations against him.

While this scandal intensifies, Greene has not yet publicly addressed the allegations. However, he recently commented on the controversy surrounding Neil Gaiman, showing support for Dark Horse Comics’ decision to sever ties with the author, but avoided discussing the allegations against Gaiman in detail.
