With just a week remaining before the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 begins, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the official ambassadors for the tournament.
Among them is Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy-winning captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed, alongside Shane Watson (Australia), Shikhar Dhawan (India), and Tim Southee (New Zealand).
The ambassadors, all former Champions Trophy participants, will provide fans with exclusive insights through guest columns, match attendance, and personal reflections throughout the competition.
The tournament will see the top eight teams competing for the prestigious white jackets.
Sarfaraz Ahmed shared his excitement about being part of the event, recalling Pakistan’s 2017 triumph. “I will never forget how special it felt to wear the white jacket and lift the trophy as Pakistan's captain. Seeing the nation celebrate that success with us will always hold a special place in my heart,” he said. “I’m thrilled to see this tournament return and to witness my country host such a significant event.”
Shikhar Dhawan, who was Player of the Series in India’s 2013 title-winning campaign, emphasized the high-stakes nature of the tournament, stating, “One mistake could end a team’s chances, making it a thrilling event.”
Tim Southee, one of New Zealand’s finest fast bowlers, highlighted the tournament’s competitive nature. “As a player, you realize that every game, every ball, and every moment is crucial in the Champions Trophy,” he said.
Shane Watson, a two-time winner with Australia, added, “The Champions Trophy has always been a unique event, offering unforgettable moments. With the top eight teams competing, we are in for some thrilling, do-or-die cricket over three weeks.”
The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 will begin on February 19, with hosts Pakistan taking on New Zealand in the tournament opener.
