Australia spinner Matthew Kuhnemann has been reported for a suspected illegal bowling action following the second Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.
The 28-year-old, who was Australia's leading wicket-taker in the 2-0 series win, was lauded for his performance in the test series. He recently posted on his Instagram account.
Kuhnemann will now undergo an assessment to determine the legality of his action. If found illegal, he will be suspended from bowling in international cricket until he modifies his action and clears a reassessment.
Cricket Australia confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday, saying, "The Australian team was notified of the match officials' referral following the second Test against Sri Lanka in Galle and will support Matt through the process of clearing this matter."
"This is the first time in eight years of professional cricket that his action has been questioned. Cricket Australia will liaise closely with the ICC and independent experts in line with ICC regulations," the statement added.
Kuhnemann remains eligible to bowl in domestic cricket for Tasmania but is barred from international cricket until his action is cleared.
