A private jet registered to Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil was involved in a deadly plane crash at Scottsdale Municipal Airport on Monday, February 10. The accident left one person dead and four others injured, including two in critical condition.

The Learjet 35A, owned by Chromed in Hollywood, Inc., Neil’s Tennessee-based company, veered off the runway upon landing, colliding with a parked Gulfstream 200 business jet, according to the FAA. Officials say the Learjet’s left main landing gear failed, causing the aircraft to lose control.

Neil, who was not on the plane at the time, released a statement through Mötley Crüe’s official account:

"For reasons unknown at this time, the plane veered from the runway, causing it to collide with another parked plane. On board were two pilots and two passengers. Mr. Neil was not on the plane. His thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today."

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash. The FAA and NTSB are conducting a full investigation. Meanwhile, Scottsdale Airport temporarily halted flights, and emergency crews worked for hours to rescue a trapped passenger.

This tragedy follows a string of major U.S. aviation accidents, including the Black Hawk helicopter collision with an American Airlines jet in Washington, D.C., and a medical transport plane crash in Philadelphia that killed seven.

Neil, best known as the lead singer of Mötley Crüe, has a history of legal and personal controversies, but there is no indication that he was involved beyond ownership of the aircraft.
