In a joint operation, the counter-terrorism department (CTD) Kohat and local police killed five militants, including the brother of a banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander, in Karak district.
The slain terrorists were wanted for multiple high-profile attacks, including a bank robbery, assaults on polio teams, the Bahadur Khel checkpoint, the Lachi toll plaza and an FC fort.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the scene.
According to details, on the night of February 10, CTD Kohat received credible intelligence about the presence of TTP commander Kaleemullah's group in the Karak district.
The militants were already wanted for their involvement in several attacks. Acting on this intelligence, security forces and local police launched a coordinated operation in Mir Kalam Banda, Banda Daud Shah.
As security personnel closed in, a fierce exchange of fire erupted between the two sides, lasting for over an hour. Once the gunfire subsided, a search and clearance operation was conducted, following which the five dead militants were recovered. Among them was Muhammad Shoaib, son of Muzaffar Khan, a resident of Domel, Bannu, and the brother of TTP commander Kaleemullah.
