University hosts International Punjabi Conference

Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) hosted a two-day International Punjabi Conference, bringing together renowned scholars, intellectuals and cultural ambassadors from across the world.

Experts from the USA, Canada, the UK, and India participated in discussions focused on preserving, promoting and academically studying Punjabi language, literature, and culture.

Themed "Jaggat Geer Akath," the conference explored Punjabi identity, folklore, literature, and linguistic research.

The event featured panel discussions, research paper presentations, book launches, poetry readings, theatrical performances, and music sessions—all aimed at strengthening Punjabi's status as a vibrant and evolving language.

The conference attracted distinguished figures, including Vice-Chancellor Dr Rauf Azam, Former VC Dr Zakir Hussain, Punjabi Department Head Dr Asma Ghulam Rasool, and Bainish Fatima, Director General of the Punjab Institute of Language, Art & Culture, Lahore.

Other notable participants included Dr. Saima Batool and Dr. Maryam Sarfraz from Lahore College for Women University, Ajab Singh Chatha and Balwinder Kaur Chatha from Canada, Sardool Singh and Santokh Singh from the UK, and Dr. Charanjit Singh and Dr Kalyan Singh Kalyan from India.

S Gurmit Singh Malhi, nephew of Bhagat Singh, also graced the occasion.
