Ye, 47, was moved by a video featuring Kodak, 27, that went viral on social media. The clip showed Kodak sitting in the middle of a road, eating chicken, while wearing a chain from Ye’s ‘DONDA’ collection. Ye interpreted the scene as a symbolic gesture and felt compelled to reach out to Kodak, possibly offering mentorship.
Kodak Black has long respected Ye. In a 2023 'Drink Champs' interview, Kodak shared his admiration, saying he felt he could mentor Ye, which he believed would be beneficial for both of them. The two artists previously collaborated on the track 'Field Trip' from Ye's 'Vultures 2' album, released in August 2024.
