Disney’s Lilo & Stitch live-action remake made a splash during Super Bowl LIX with a surprise teaser, featuring Stitch causing chaos on the football field.
The brief spot aired early in the game, creating the illusion of a broadcast glitch before revealing the mischievous blue alien taking over.
The highly anticipated remake stars Maia Kealoha as Lilo Pelekai, with Sydney Agudong playing her older sister, Nani. Chris Sanders, the original voice of Stitch, returns to bring the beloved character to life once more. The film’s supporting cast includes Zach Galifianakis as Dr. Jumba Jookiba, Billy Magnussen as Agent Pleakley, and Tia Carrere—who voiced Nani in the 2002 animated classic—returning in a new role as Mrs. Kekoa. Courtney B. Vance plays a social worker, while Amy Hill and Jason Scott Lee also join the cast.
Directed by Marcel the Shell With Shoes On filmmaker Dean Fleischer Camp, the film’s screenplay is written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright. Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin produce under Rideback, with Ryan Halprin, Louie Provost, and Tom C. Peitzman serving as executive producers.
The original Lilo & Stitch remains a fan favorite from Disney’s early 2000s lineup, grossing $273 million worldwide and inspiring several sequels and a Disney Channel animated series. The live-action adaptation promises nostalgic Easter eggs for longtime fans while introducing the heartwarming Hawaiian tale to a new generation.
Lilo & Stitch lands in theaters on May 23, 2025.
