RAWALPINDI:

Seven terrorists were killed in two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) by the security forces in Dera Ismail Khan and North Waziristan districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Sunday.

It said that the three "Khwarij" – a term used for terrorists belonging to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) – were killed overnight in IBOs conducted in the Maddi general area of Dera Ismail Khan and another four in the Mir Ali general area of North Waziristan.

"On night 8-9 February 2025, security Forces conducted an intelligence based operation in general area Maddi, Dera Ismail Khan District on reported presence of khwarij," the ISPR, the media wing of the military, stated in its statement.

"During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location, as a result of which, three khwarij, including Kharji Rehmat, were sent to hell, while two khwarij got injured," the statement added.

"Another intelligence based operation was conducted in general area Mir Ali, North Waziristan District. In ensuing fire exchange, four Khwarij were effectively neutralised by the security forces, while three khwarij got injured," the statement said.

According to the ISPR, sanitisation operations were being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area, adding that the security forces of Pakistan were determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the successful IBOs and eliminating seven terrorists. In a statement Shehbaz said that the "entire nation salutes our forces".
