PlayStation Network outage leaves gamers frustrated worldwide
A major PlayStation Network (PSN) outage has disrupted services for PS4 and PS5 users, preventing access to online gaming, account management, and digital purchases.
Sony has yet to comment on the cause of the outage, which began around 7:00 PM ET, according to Downdetector.
The disruption has affected players across the United States and other regions, leaving many unable to log in or play multiplayer games.
The PlayStation status page confirms that key services, including the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Video, and PlayStation Direct, are currently unavailable.
The outage extends to all PSN-connected devices, including PlayStation VR, PS Vita, and web-based access.
Users took to Reddit to voice their frustration, with many expressing disappointment over the timing, as the second beta for Monster Hunter Wilds became available.
"Literally the worst time of the entire week for maintenance," one Redditor complained.
The cause remains unclear, though speculation ranges from server overload to a potential Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack. Sony has yet to issue an official statement on when services will be restored.
