Critics Choice Awards 2025: ‘Anora’, ‘Shōgun’, 'Wicked' and more score biggest wins of the night

The 30th Critics' Choice Awards ceremony was held on February 7, 2025, at the Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport in Santa Monica, California, to celebrate the finest of filmmaking and television programming in 2025. This year's event was hosted by Chelsea Handler.

In the film category, Neon’s Anora took home Best Picture, cementing its status as an Oscars frontrunner. The Sean Baker-directed indie, which previously won the Palme d’Or at Cannes, secured the top honor despite coming up short in earlier categories.

On the television side, FX/Hulu’s Shōgun was the night’s biggest winner, taking four awards, including Best Drama Series and Best Actor for Hiroyuki Sanada. HBO | Max’s Hacks secured Best Comedy Series, while Netflix’s Baby Reindeer claimed Best Limited Series, with Colin Farrell (The Penguin) and Cristin Milioti earning lead acting honors.

Among the night’s biggest surprises, Wicked director Jon M. Chu won Best Director after being overlooked by the Oscars. Emilia Pérez also had a strong showing, with Zoe Saldaña winning Best Supporting Actress. Demi Moore and Adrien Brody took the lead acting categories for film. Meanwhile, A Real Pain and Deadpool & Wolverine tied for Best Comedy Film.

Despite strong nominations, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande (Wicked)  missed out on acting wins.
