K-pop quartet BLACKPINK's Lisa is back with another solo release, Born Again, this time featuring American rapper Doja Cat and British singer Raye. Bringing disco beats fused with electro-pop, Lisa dubbed Born Again "a tribute to powerful women throughout history" in an Instagram post shared Friday.
The music video opens with a title card flashing the definition of the track's name. "The transformation into a New Woman who embraces her freedom to become the person she desires to be," reads the text. Emulating a retro feel, the video spotlights Lisa in glamorous funeral clothes in pale hues.
The noir atmosphere warms into colour as the song builds up and introduces the other artists, both adorning black ensembles similar to Lisa's. Divided into parts, the video follows the trio's transformation from grim blacks to freeing whites, symbolic of their rebirth.
In November, Born Again was announced as part of Lisa's debut solo album Alter Ego, which releases at the end of February. Other tracks on the album are Rockstar, New Woman featuring Rosalía, Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me), Moving Like Water, Lifestyle, and the titular Alter Ego.
The official album teaser depicts the Money singer strutting down a long ramp in a desolate land. The album is split into five different versions. "I'm excited to reveal the special covers for Alter Ego. I can't wait for you all to meet Roxi, Vixi, Sunni, Speedi, and Kiki," Lisa announced on social media in December.
In an interview with Capital FM, she broke down the concept further. "I wanted to try out different musical styles. And because this is something I haven't done before, I thought to combine all these styles into one album and call it Alter Ego," she explained.
In terms of other aspects of her solo career, Lisa will soon mark her acting debut with the release of White Lotus Season Three, which airs later in February. "It happened to be filmed in my home country, Thailand. So, I got to spend time there with my family as well. My mom was also on set," she said. "I had a lot of fun. I would love to take on more acting roles in the future."
Aside from solo endeavours, Lisa is all set to hit the road with her band members this year, as BLACKPINK confirmed their 2025 World Tour through a teaser shared to social media on Wednesday. The band last toured twenty-two countries between 2022 and 2023, following the release of their last album Born Pink.
