The Philadelphia 76ers have traded veteran guard Reggie Jackson and a future first-round pick to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Jared Butler and four second-round picks, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

NBA analyst Kevin O'Connor noted that Butler has been a consistent performer for the Wizards, questioning why he hasn’t played more. O'Connor speculates that the trade may be more about Philadelphia converting a first-round pick into multiple second-round selections.

Fans have had mixed reactions to the trade. Some are optimistic about Butler’s potential, with one fan commenting that he has been quietly impressive this season and expressing curiosity about how he will perform outside of the Wizards' struggling environment. On the other hand, some fans are critical, with one remarking that giving up a first-round pick for Butler is a "diabolical" move.

Butler, 24, is currently on a two-way contract with the Wizards and their G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go. The guard had an impressive college career with the Baylor Bears, earning consensus first-team All-American honors and helping lead the team to a national championship in 2021, where he was named the Final Four Most Outstanding Player.

Jackson, 34, has played for multiple NBA teams, including the Oklahoma City Thunder, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, and most recently, the Denver Nuggets, with whom he won a championship in 2023.
