Azealia Banks calls out JK Rowling over anti-trans comments
Rapper and outspoken activist Azealia Banks took to social media to call out author JK Rowling for her continued anti-trans comments, challenging her views on femininity and gender.
Banks argued that many women who engage in body modification, particularly through the trend of BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) culture, are attempting to compete with trans women due to insecurities about their own femininity.
In her post, Banks clarified that she did not feel threatened by trans women, praising their beauty and confidence. She emphasized that anti-trans rhetoric from figures like Rowling is rooted in personal insecurities and fear of change, rather than objective "science" or reason. Banks further pointed out that trans women are not a threat to anyone's femininity and urged Rowling to focus on more pressing global issues, like child abuse, rather than "obsessing over who adults choose to sleep with."
No shade @jk_rowling thanks for the follow and I love you down sis, but transwomen are not a threat to your femininity. You are really too rich and legendary to keep spewing the same stuff over and over and over. The REAL problem in the world is crimes against children. Adults…

Banks also shared her personal experience growing up with a trans brother, highlighting the emotional and physical toll that societal rejection and abuse can take on transgender individuals. She challenged Rowling, who has written about magic and consciousness, to understand the spiritual and emotional journey of trans people, calling her views outdated.
Banks concluded her message with love and respect for Rowling, urging her to move beyond her prejudices and stop perpetuating harmful views.
