Controversial Indian actress Rakhi Sawant has finally responded to the marriage proposal made by renowned Pakistani Islamic scholar Mufti Abdul Qavi in a recent podcast.
Known for his provocative statements and actions, Mufti Qavi once again found himself in the headlines, this time for expressing his desire to marry the Bollywood actress during a podcast with Muneezay Moeen.
Mufti Qavi had long been a controversial figure, having been involved in numerous scandals, including the infamous Qandeel Baloch case, the Hareem Shah slap incident, and his eventual stripping of the ‘Mufti’ title.
His latest antics continued to make waves as he turned his attention to Sawant.
During the podcast, Mufti Qavi referred to Sawant’s recent Umrah pilgrimage and called her a “respectable woman.” He raised questions about her marital history, asking whether she had married according to Hindu or Muslim traditions.
He referenced well-known Islamic scholars such as Dr. Zakir Naik and the late Dr. Ahmed Deedat, who regarded the Hindu holy book as an “inspired book.” Mufti Qavi suggested that this could make Sawant “people of the book,” a term in Islam used for those who follow revealed scriptures.
The conversation took an unexpected turn when Mufti Qavi directly addressed Rakhi’s alleged interest in marrying a Pakistani scholar, stating, “I am here and ready, but with one condition: I will ask my mother for permission first. If she permits me, then, because it is her command, you need to ask me before getting married.”
Sawant reacted to Qavi’s proposal by stating, "I’m dying to marry a Maulana; my sister Sana Khan has also married a Mufti."
She went on to say that Dodi Khan, another man vying for her affection, is like a modern man but a devout worshipper.
Rakhi added humorously that although she had never met Mufti Qavi, she was intrigued by his name and jokingly requested that he write a poem for her.
However, Mufti Qavi is not the only Pakistani man courting Rakhi Sawant. Actor Dodi Khan, who previously proposed to the actress, has become the center of media attention after their engagement ended in an unexpected twist.
Despite earlier rumors, Dodi Khan recently apologized to Rakhi, saying, “I am sorry Rakhi ji! You are a very good friend of mine and will remain so. You may not be able to become my bride, but I promise you that you will become the daughter-in-law of Pakistan. I will get you married to one of my friends or brothers.”
Sawant’s connection with Pakistan, which began innocently through playful exchanges with actress Hania Aamir, has since spiraled into a series of dramatic and controversial twists.
From public proposals to shocking breakups, her ties with the country remain a source of intrigue. Whether these proposals are genuine or simply part of Rakhi’s larger-than-life persona, it is clear that her ongoing “love affair” with Pakistan is far from over.
