Dana White reveals why Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg's MMA fight never happened

Dana White has revealed the real reason why the much-anticipated MMA showdown between tech moguls Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg never materialized.

Despite initial excitement, including talks of a Colosseum match in Rome, the fight fell apart due to unresolved issues regarding the fight’s specifics.

The two billionaires sparked the conversation in June 2023 when Musk challenged Zuckerberg to a cage match following the launch of Meta’s Threads. Musk tweeted that he was “up for a cage match,” to which Zuckerberg eagerly responded, “send the location.” However, after months of back-and-forth banter, the talks fizzled until July 2024, when Musk reignited the idea, stating he would fight Zuckerberg “any place, any time, any rules.”

UFC President Dana White was actively involved in the negotiations, speaking with both Musk and Zuckerberg nightly to arrange the event. White even had discussions with Italian authorities to host the fight in the iconic Colosseum. However, the negotiations hit a snag when it came to agreeing on the fight's weight class, rules, and other crucial details.

Despite offers, including a suggestion from Jake Paul for a $100M charity match, the proposed fight has yet to be scheduled. Fans were left disappointed, as the plans “eventually started to fall apart,” according to White. The much-anticipated encounter between Musk and Zuckerberg remains a distant dream for now.
