The Higher Education Commission declared PML-N MPA Khwaja Islam's BBA degree as bogus on Friday.
Faisalabad's board of intermediate and secondary education also labelled his intermediate certificate as fake. It was a glaring conflict of dates, as Islam’s inter certificate was issued in 1987, while the Faisalabad's intermediate board was set up a year later in 1988.
On the same day PML-N MNA Faiz Timan also resigned from the National Assembly citing personal reasons.
Timan, who was elected from Chakwal's constituency NA-61, had defeated PML-Q leader Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi in the 2008 elections.
Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza accepted his resignation.
Sources said degrees of 70 winners in the last general elections were challenged in courts.
Twenty-four of such petitions have been decided by election tribunals while 46 are still pending.
