Actor Ewan McGregor has taken legal action against a woman who has been harassing him and his family for over a year.
TMZ reports that the actor filed for a restraining order against Angelica Gorentz, who has been sending disturbing messages and threats since 2022. According to McGregor's legal documents, Gorentz believes herself to be McGregor’s jilted lover, accusing his wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, of stealing him from her.
Gorentz's behavior escalated significantly in December when she traveled from Minnesota to California to confront McGregor at his ex-wife's home on Christmas Eve. At the time, McGregor and his family were celebrating the holiday, but Gorentz tried to gain access to the property. She was turned away by a security gate, but her actions were enough to raise concern. Following this unsettling encounter, Gorentz made increasingly violent threats, referencing the TV show Dexter and mentioning a sniper rifle she had been researching.
In the court documents, McGregor claims that Gorentz has sent over 500 emails to him and his family since 2022, with many containing bizarre and aggressive language. Some of the messages included disturbing comments about Gorentz wanting to have children with McGregor, phrased in violent and alarming ways. One message from December, for example, read, "Because I only need your balls to have kids with you with IVF, not your f*cking d*ck."
Gorentz's delusions seem to extend further, with her telling McGregor that after watching The Da Vinci Code, she believed the film contained a secret Illuminati message declaring her to be a princess. Additionally, she sent unsettling updates as she made her way to McGregor’s ex-wife's home, detailing her travel route and stops along the way.
In response to the alarming situation, McGregor was granted a temporary restraining order. The order mandates that Gorentz stay at least 100 yards away from McGregor, his wife, his five children, and his ex-wife. She is also prohibited from contacting or harassing them in any way.
