The Final Destination franchise is officially back, and its upcoming sixth installment, Final Destination: Bloodlines, promises to deliver the franchise’s signature gruesome deaths while taking a fresh approach to the story. After 14 years, Warner Bros. has finally unveiled the first teaser trailer, confirming the film’s release in theaters and IMAX on May 16, 2025.

Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, Bloodlines will introduce new characters while bringing back a fan-favorite—the late Tony Todd’s William Bludworth, the franchise’s mysterious figure who seems to know Death’s plan with reports suggesting that his backstory will be explored.

Unlike its predecessors, the upcoming movie will take a different approach by centering on first responders—firefighters, EMTs, and police officers.

One of the biggest mysteries in the Final Destination franchise is why specific individuals receive premonitions of mass tragedies. There has never been any indication that these characters had psychic abilities before the visions, nor is there a clear pattern connecting them.

Although the Final Destination films don’t follow a strict continuity, Final Destination 5 shocked audiences by revealing it was a prequel to the 2000 original. Bloodlines, however, appears to be a standalone entry while diving deeper into Bludworth’s origins.

While Final Destination 5 provided a brilliant prequel twist, Bloodlines promises to finally connect the missing pieces and deliver long-awaited answers for fans of the franchise.
