Amazon MGM Studios is gearing up for another comedy hit, with Zac Efron set to star opposite Will Ferrell in an upcoming film directed by Nicholas Stoller.

The movie follows a young convict (Efron) who, after being released from prison, takes a reality TV courtroom hostage, blaming its egotistical judge (Ferrell) for a past ruling that ruined his life.

Stoller, known for Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Neighbors, will direct and produce through Stoller Global Solutions. Ferrell is also producing alongside Jessica Elbaum and Alex Brown under Gloria Sanchez Productions.

Efron, fresh off his critically acclaimed performance in The Iron Claw, recently wrapped filming on Famous, a psychological thriller exploring the dark side of celebrity. Meanwhile, Ferrell’s latest film, You’re Cordially Invited, is currently the No. 1 movie on Prime Video.

With Amazon MGM backing the project, fans can expect another entertaining collaboration between Ferrell and Stoller. The film also marks Efron’s continued rise in Hollywood, following his success in Ricky Stanicky and The Greatest Showman.

Production details and release dates for the untitled comedy have yet to be announced, but with this star-studded lineup, anticipation is already building.
