Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has removed ex-husband Shoaib Malik’s name from her Dubai residence, replacing it with their son Azhan’s.
The change comes as she finalises her new villa, where she plans to move in with her son.
According to media reports, the villa’s construction is now complete, with final touches underway before she shifts into the new home.
Mirza, who has been residing in the UAE with Azhan for an extended period, emphasised that her son is now her top priority and best friend.
The move follows her divorce from former Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik in 2024, ending their 14-year marriage. Azhan was born in 2017.
Speculation about Mirza’s personal life has also circulated, with reports linking her to UAE-based business tycoon Adeeb Sajan.
However, there has been no confirmation regarding the nature of their relationship.
Sajan was reportedly involved in designing Mirza’s new home.
Beyond her personal life, Mirza remains active in tennis through her academies in Dubai and Hyderabad.
She has also been working as a sports analyst, recently covering the 2025 Australian Open for Sony Sports Network.
The six-time Grand Slam champion retired from professional tennis in 2023, concluding a highly successful career.
Shoaib and Sana mark one year together
Last month, taking to their usual haunt (Instagram), former cricket star Shoaib Malik and actor wife Sana Javed each wished each other a happy anniversary, beefing up their good wishes with a carousel of photos (Sana) and a reel of their time together (Shoaib).
"Many more beautiful days and memories together," captioned Shoaib alongside his reel. "Happy anniversary, I love you bestie." Shoaib's reel featured a series of snapshots of the happy couple, ranging from a portrait from their wedding to a selfie in the countryside to a candid shot of themselves enjoying a cup of coffee at an outdoor café.
Shoaib opted for Ed Sheeran's Perfect as the, well, perfect backdrop to accompany his reel – a song choice that did not go unnoticed by sharp-eyed (or rather, sharp-eared) fans. "You had kids when you fell in love, wrong song," commented a fan, referring to Sheeran's line "We were just kids when we fell in love" from the track.
Other fans appear to still not have forgiven Shoaib for the deterioration of his former marriage with Indian tennis star Sania Mirza. "A few years ago, he looked [just as happy with] Sania," wrote a fan. "Just posting happy pictures doesn't mean you are all good."
Undeterred by negative comments, Sana matched her husband's reel with a carousel of photos featuring throwback photos from what appears to be their wedding. "Happy anniversary my love," penned Sana. "Life is beautiful with you love you, hero."
The couple confirmed the news of their marriage last year in the form of a wedding photo via an Instagram post captioned "Alhamdulillah. And We created you in pairs."
Shoaib had previously tied the knot with Sana in 2010 and shares one son with the athlete. Sana, meanwhile, had married musician Umair Jaswal in 2020.
