EA has officially rereleased The Sims and The Sims 2, making the classic life simulation games available for purchase again after years of unavailability.

The two iconic titles, which helped shape the simulation genre, are now accessible on PC starting today, January 31, 2025. Players can download them via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and EA’s app, marking a major revival for the franchise’s early editions.

The rerelease coincides with The Sims franchise’s 25th anniversary. EA has introduced the Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, which include a selection of the original expansions and content updates. Gamers can purchase them separately or in a bundle for $39.99, offering a nostalgic return to the beloved gameplay that captivated millions.

Despite The Sims 4 continuing as a free-to-play title, the resurgence of the first two games highlights the franchise’s enduring popularity. These classic games laid the foundation for modern life simulation experiences, allowing players to create and control virtual lives in unparalleled detail.

Alongside the rerelease, The Sims franchise remains active with a new movie in development and ongoing updates for The Sims 4. Meanwhile, anticipation builds for the next iteration of the series, which is expected to bring fresh innovations to the genre.

With The Sims and The Sims 2 officially back, both longtime fans and new players can revisit the origins of the franchise that revolutionized simulation gaming.
