Meta has vowed to fire employees responsible for leaking internal information after audio from a private meeting with CEO Mark Zuckerberg was promptly leaked online.

During the meeting on Thursday, Zuckerberg expressed frustration over repeated leaks, stating, “We try to be really open and then everything I say leaks. It sucks.” He also warned employees to “buckle up” for the challenges ahead, signaling a more cautious approach to sharing company information.

However, the irony was immediate—his comments were leaked shortly after, prompting Meta’s Chief Information Security Officer, Guy Rosen, to issue a stern memo. According to The Verge, Rosen wrote, “We take leaks seriously and will take action… When information is stolen or leaked, there are repercussions beyond the immediate security impact.” He confirmed that Meta will “take appropriate action, including termination.”

The leak comes amid growing scrutiny over Meta’s relationship with former president Donald Trump. In December, Meta donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund, marking a stark departure from previous company policies.

On Wednesday, Zuckerberg praised Trump’s administration during Meta’s Q4 earnings call, stating, “We now have a U.S. administration that is proud of our leading companies, prioritizes American technology winning, and that will defend our values and interests abroad.”

Meanwhile, reports surfaced that Meta will pay Trump $25 million to settle a lawsuit related to his prior ban from the platform.

As Meta cracks down on leaks and shifts its political stance, the company faces mounting internal and public scrutiny over its evolving direction.
