The Sanghar police eventually registered an FIR of the January 27 incident accusing men associated with MNA Allaudin Junejo in the case. However, the name of the MNA was spared in the FIR.
The case was lodged at Chautiarion police station late on Wednesday night, nominating 29 persons with names besides 10 to 15 unknown. The complainant Fida Hussain Junejo alleged that the accused persons attacked them in reaction to their activity of tree cutting.
He specifically named Ataullah Junejo, Imamuddin Rajar and Muhammad Ali Jatoi for killing Mushtaq Junejo, Ali Baksh Junejo and Abdul Rasool Junejo. The other accused, he claimed, fired gunshots which left over a dozen people injured.
The SHO Chautiarion police station Ghulam Muhammad Sahito is among those accused.
DSP Laung Shar told that the SHO has been suspended but not arrested so far. The police have made public arrests of nine suspects but the main accused are still at large.
The protesters whose sit-in continued for three days outside Sanghar press club had been vehemently demanding nomination of the MNA in the FIR.
Interestingly, other lawmakers of the PPP from Sanghar and Matiari districts expressed support for the protesters.
Allauddin on behalf of his party claimed that he has not visited Sanghar since December 31, 2024, to deny his involvement in the killings. His men did not attack the slain rather it was the other way around. The deceased Mushtaq, Ali Baksh and Abdul Rasool were laid to rest on Thursday in Mian Mureed Keerio graveyard in Chautiarion.
