A youth was shot dead allegedly in the name of honour in Landhi New Muzaffarabad on Thursday. Unknown armed suspects shot and killed the youth in the remits of Quaidabad police station and fled.
The body of the deceased youth was shifted to Jinnah Hospital by a Chhipa ambulance, where he was identified as 22-year-old Mubarak, son of Fazl-ur-Rehman. On receiving information about the incident, the police reached the spot and summoned crime scene unit immediately. SHO Quaidabad Farasat Hussain Shah said that the shooting incident allegedly took place in the name of honour. Mubarak was killed by uncles of his wife, whose names are initially known as Imran and Rahmat. Five months ago, the victim had eloped with and married a girl of his choice. However, he later sent her back to her family. The victim sustained four bullet wounds. The accused involved in the youth's murder are said to be residents of Gaddafi Town. The police are trying to apprehend them.
In another incident, a woman was shot dead at her home in Banaras Bukhari Colony.
According to reports, 20-year-old Shaheena Amin Khan was killed by her brother, Shahbaz. The incident occurred when Shaheena returned to her home on Thursday after five months. Her brother, allegedly driven by a twisted sense of honour, opened fire and killed her.
The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police found two shells of a 30-bore pistol at the scene and have launched a manhunt for Shahbaz, who had fled the scene.
