The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Thursday sealed a commercial market on Adiala Road for defaulting Rs35 million in dues.
The authority also reclaimed two kanal of valuable land on Asghar Mall Road, which had been occupied by land grabbers, and handed it over to the State Management Directorate.
During an operation against encroachments and illegal constructions, a significant number of permanent encroachments along both sides of the road were demolished, clearing blocked pathways for traffic and pedestrians.
RDA sealed a 12-kanal Pearl Market, on Adiala Road for failing to pay the outstanding dues of Rs35m. On Asghar Mall Road, encroachments and illegal constructions, including boundary walls, fences, and protection sheds along the road near Hanan Mosque, Dusehra Ground, and Eidgah Sharif, were also demolished.
Similarly, the boundary wall of the City Marriage Hall was also torn down to restore the parking setback. The operation removed illegally constructed structures and cleared the road for proper use.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of RDA's Director Land, Malik Ghazanfar Ali Awan, Deputy Director Land Use and Building Control, Atif Mehmood Chaudhry, Deputy Director Land Development and State Management, Masood Arshad, Assistant Director Ali Raza, Enforcement In-charge Mohammad Dawood, Building Superintendent Arsalan Shaukat, and Building Surveyor Amir Malik, with assistance from the local police.
