Coordinated polio control strategy ordered

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary, Nadeem Aslam Chaudhary has emphasized the need for a well-coordinated strategy to control the polio virus in union councils where environmental samples have tested positive and polio cases have been reported.

A meeting of the Provincial Task Force on Polio Eradication was held on Thursday at the Civil Secretariat Peshawar chaired by Chief Secretary.

The meeting was attended by relevant administrative secretaries, senior officials of law enforcement agencies, the Coordinator of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), representatives from international partner organizations including UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as other concerned officials.

Officials from the National Emergency Operations Center Islamabad, commissioners, and deputy commissioners joined the meeting via video link.

He directed officials to ensure strict action against staff involved in fake finger marking and inaccurate data reporting. He highlighted that the detection of polio cases and positive environmental samples in various districts is alarming and requires immediate and effective measures.
