Louis Tomlinson made his first public appearance since the funeral of his former One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne, who tragically passed away on October 16, 2024, at the age of 31.
Payne, who had struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues throughout his career, died after falling from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
His funeral, held on November 20, 2024, in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, brought together the remaining members of One Direction—Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik—for the first time since Zayn’s departure in 2015.

Fast forward to January 2025, and Zayn Malik, now 32, is in the midst of his first solo tour, Stairway to the Sky. During his second performance at the Shrine Exposition Hall in Los Angeles on January 25, Zayn paused to acknowledge a special guest in the audience.
“Tonight’s something special. An old friend of mine is here for me tonight,” he told the crowd, which erupted into cheers when he revealed it was Louis Tomlinson.
Photos of Louis at the show quickly flooded social media, sending fans into a frenzy. Given the rarity of interactions between Zayn and his former bandmates, even the smallest gesture sparks excitement. But this time, the buzz is louder than ever.
Adding fuel to the fire are reports that the upcoming 45th Brit Awards, set for March 1 at The O2 Arena in London, will feature a special tribute to Liam Payne.
According to a source cited by The Sun, “The tribute to Liam at this year's awards show has caused a real buzz and speculation that the remaining One Direction bandmates could finally come back together again on stage.”
The insider added, “The finer details are still being worked out, with official approaches to be made in the coming weeks, but there are set to be a mixture of performances, tasteful photo and video montages, and a live orchestra.”
The possibility of Zayn joining Harry, Louis, and Niall for the tribute has fans on the edge of their seats. If it happens, it would mark the first time all five members have shared a stage since Zayn’s departure nearly a decade ago.
