The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday forecast light rain in most districts of Punjab, including Lahore, as a rain-bringing weather system is expected to enter the country on Friday.
The rain is anticipated to bring a cooling effect and a drop in temperature across the region, according to the Met Office.
Currently, dry weather persists throughout Punjab, including in the provincial capital, with rising daytime temperatures and cooler nights. The Met Department has also noted that the duration of the winter season this year has been shorter due to recent weather changes.
On Thursday, Lahore recorded a minimum temperature of 7°C, with the maximum temperature expected to reach 24°C.
On the other hand, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most plain areas of the country during the next 12 hours.
However, cloudy weather with light rain and light snow is likely in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Islamabad 6°C, Karachi 17°C, Peshawar 9°C, Quetta and Murree 1°C, Gilgit -1°C, and Muzaffarabad 5°C.
According to weather forecast for Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, cloudy weather with chances of rain and snowfall is expected in Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian and Baramula, while cloudy weather with chances of light rain and light snow in Srinagar and partly cloudy and cold weather in Jammu.

Srinagar, Pulwama and Anantnag -1°C, Jammu 4°C, Leh -11°C, Shopian 0°C and Baramula -2°C.
