The death toll from a gas container explosion in Basti Hamidpur Gate, Fahad Town, has risen to 10, as three more fatalities were confirmed by authorities on Wednesday.
On the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Multan Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan distributed relief checks to the injured and the families of the deceased.
The explosion, which occurred two days ago, has left a trail of devastation, with several casualties and dozens injured.
As per the district administration, four of the deceased were buried by their families without being brought to the hospital. Among them, three deaths were confirmed on the spot on the day of the incident.
At Nishtar Hospital, a six-month-old child undergoing treatment in the PAEDS ICU succumbed to injuries.
According to hospital data, 37 injured individuals were admitted to the burn unit since the accident.
Six have been discharged after recovery, while one woman remains under treatment.
The bodies of five deceased individuals were shifted to Nishtar Hospital.
Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan visited the burn unit of Nishtar Hospital, distributing relief checks of Rs500,000 to 29 injured victims, while another check was given to a patient still under treatment.
Additional relief checks were provided to victims who had recovered and were discharged to their homes.
Furthermore, the families of 10 deceased individuals received compensation checks of Rs2 million each.
Commissioner Khan personally visited the homes of the victims to ensure financial support reached them directly.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Multan Aamir Kareem Khan assured that no effort would be spared in providing the best medical care to the injured.
He reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring that all necessary treatment facilities are available to the victims.
The tragic explosion claimed the lives of Aliza, Muhammad Razzaq, Dilawar, Ismail, Areba, Shahzadi, Muhammad Ashiq, Saeed Mai, Zarina Bibi, and Subhan, leaving their families in mourning.
