The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has raised concerns over the handling of Annual Development Program (ADP) and maintenance projects by the Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation (WASC). Despite repeated requests for information, WASA has failed to submit the required documents within the stipulated timeframe.
On January 22, ACE Hyderabad Zone Inspector and Inquiry Officer Agha Hussain issued a letter to the WASA managing director, requesting a thorough inquiry into allegations of substandard work and misuse of government funds by WASA officers and employees.
The complaint, which was forwarded to ACE Hyderabad by the director ACE Sindh Karachi, highlights concerns over millions of rupees set aside for development and maintenance projects over the last five years. The allegations suggest that these funds may have been misused and that the quality of work was compromised.
Under the Sindh Anti-Corruption Rules of 1993, Agha Hussain was appointed as the inquiry officer to investigate these allegations. His investigation will focus on assessing the funds utilised for ADP and maintenance schemes, ensuring that proper procedures were followed and that the quality of work met government standards.
In his letter, Hussain outlined a comprehensive list of documents that should be provided by WASA.
