Saudi Arabia is reportedly preparing a record-breaking bid to lure Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior to the Saudi Pro League in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to reports from AS, Saudi clubs are ready to present an offer that could exceed £261 million (€300 million) for the Brazilian forward, aiming to surpass Neymar’s world-record transfer fee of £193 million (€222 million) from Barcelona to PSG in 2017.
Massive salary proposal for Vinícius
In addition to the unprecedented transfer fee, the proposed deal includes a staggering five-year contract worth £173 million (€200 million) per season, tax-free, amounting to £865 million (€1 billion) over the contract’s duration.
While no formal talks have taken place with the 23-year-old forward, Saudi Arabia is reportedly gearing up for what could be the most lucrative contract in football history.
Al Hilal and Al Ahli eyeing Vinícius
The Saudi Pro League’s interest in Vinícius aligns with its strategy to secure global superstars. While the destination club remains unclear, Al Hilal emerges as a strong contender.
The Riyadh-based club, after parting ways with Neymar, is keen to fill the void left by the Brazilian’s expected departure to Brazil.
Previously, Al Ahli from Jeddah expressed interest in Vinícius during last summer’s transfer window. While Real Madrid refused to negotiate at the time, reports suggest Vinícius was open to hearing details about the offer.
Real Madrid’s position
Real Madrid remains firm on Vinícius’ future, insisting on his £865 million (€1 billion) release clause if any club hopes to secure his transfer.
The Spanish club plans to extend his current contract, which runs until 2027, and offer him a salary increase.
Vinícius is reportedly happy at Real Madrid and not actively seeking a move. The Brazilian star has 17 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions this season.
Saudi Arabia’s ambitious vision
Saudi Arabia’s interest in Vinícius is part of a broader strategy to elevate the Saudi Pro League’s profile.
Following the acquisitions of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Neymar, the league aims to continue its recruitment of global talents, solidifying its reputation as a growing football powerhouse.
With the summer transfer window approaching, the football world waits to see if Saudi Arabia can secure its most ambitious signing yet.
