LAHORE:

The body of a female lawyer, Advocate Saira, who went missing several days ago from Lahore's Nawab Town area, was recovered on Sunday from a canal in Hafizabad.

Police said the deceased was found inside a sack, complicating initial identification efforts. Advocate Saira had been reported missing by her sister, Ayesha, who filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Nawab Town Police Station shortly after her disappearance.

The Hafizabad police registered an FIR and conducted the necessary formalities before arranging the burial of the body.

Following the discovery, Lahore police departed for Hafizabad to assist in the ongoing investigation.

Advocate Saira had reportedly married a man named Bilal a few months prior.

The circumstances of her disappearance and subsequent murder remain unclear, prompting authorities to expand the scope of their inquiry.

Senior police officials have assured the victim's family that every possible resource will be used to identify and arrest those responsible.

Forensic experts have been deployed to analyse evidence collected from the crime scene, while investigators are questioning individuals linked to the victim's personal and professional life.

Police are also examining potential motives, including professional rivalry or personal enmity, that may have led to the crime.

Advocate Saira's death has sent shockwaves through the legal fraternity in Lahore. Colleagues and members of the bar association have expressed their grief and outrage, demanding swift justice for the victim.

"We urge the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice without delay," said a senior member of the bar association.
