RAWALPINDI:

A 19-year-old girl from Karachi's Liaquatabad area ended her life by jumping off the terrace of a house in Phase 7, Rawalpindi.

According to the police, she had come to Rawalpindi Phase 7 from Karachi with her male friend two days ago. The incident occurred on Saturday morning while her friend was out buying breakfast.

The Rawat police were informed of the incident by the area's security team over a phone call, and upon reaching the scene, they found the girl's body lying on the ground. Her friend arrived shortly afterwards with the breakfast.

Rawat police took the body into their custody and sent it to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) for medico-legal proceedings. Meanwhile, the girl's parents have been contacted in Karachi to claim the body.

During police inquiries, her friend stated that on Saturday morning, he went to the market to buy breakfast, and in his absence, the girl jumped off the terrace to take her own life. When the police asked, he said they had an argument the previous night but had resolved the issue.

The police have registered a case of attempted suicide and stated that the girl's parents have been summoned from Karachi to Rawalpindi.

The boy has been formally apprehended. Further investigations are underway.
