Faisalabad's administration and traders have collaborated to transform the eight historic markets surrounding the iconic Clock Tower (Ghanta Ghar) by making them free of encroachments and vehicles.
Commissioner Maryam Khan led the initiative, meeting with traders to outline the comprehensive plan aimed at preserving the area's historical and economic significance.
During the meeting, Commissioner Maryam Khan assured traders that wholesale markets would be relocated outside the eight markets to ease congestion and improve accessibility.
She pledged to provide all possible facilities to ensure a smooth relocation process.
The commissioner emphasised that business activities would continue without disruption, while long-term measures are being taken to address parking issues.
She highlighted that the under-construction parking plaza near Chiniot Bazaar will be expedited and lighting and sanitation will be ensured at the Rajbah Road parking site.
Additionally, a feasible model will be developed to streamline motorcycle entry and exit in the markets.
