Kim Kardashian has come under fire after posting a photo of First Lady Melania Trump on her Instagram story during the recent inauguration, resulting in a reported loss of 150,000 followers.

The reality star and business mogul, who commands an Instagram following of 358 million, shared the image of Melania wearing a wide-brimmed hat, raising eyebrows online. The analytics firm Socially Powerful revealed that Kardashian’s follower count dropped by 144,963 on Instagram and an additional 9,553 on X (formerly Twitter) since uploading the photo.

Some fans were quick to voice their disapproval. “Girl… sold out for far-right MAGA propaganda,” one Instagram user commented. Another wrote, “Well, at least we can see exactly who you are,” while some called for a boycott of Kardashian’s products and shows.

One comment highlighted the timing of her post, saying they were offended that Kardashian chose to share a photo of Melania Trump but not a tribute to the late Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose federal holiday coincided with the inauguration.

Despite the backlash, Kardashian has not issued a response. Known for her advocacy work, the celebrity has previously used her relationship with Ivanka Trump to push for clemency and prison reform, notably lobbying for the release of Alice Marie Johnson in 2018.

In 2020, Kardashian stated she would not endorse any presidential candidates, focusing her energy on criminal justice reform.
