Third party to re-assess disputed XI results

The Sindh Assembly Parliamentary Committee has decided to have the papers of students, who have reservations about the results of the 11th grade, re-checked by a third party.

A meeting of the committee to investigate the results of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) was held under the chairmanship of Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah. Opposition leader Ali Khursheedi, Jamaat-e-Islami parliamentary member Muhammad Farooq, and other members also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the Terms of Reference (TORs) for the committee were finalised, and it was decided that the students' results would undergo third-party scrutiny. Furthermore, the board administration will provide a briefing in the committee's next meeting.

The committee assured that no injustice will be done to the students.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Provincial Education Minister Sardar Shah said that legislation is being drafted on the assembly's resolution regarding the appointment of university vice-chancellors. The matter of whether a vice-chancellor can be a bureaucrat has been referred to the standing committee by the assembly.

The complaint of the affected students will also be made a part of this meeting, while the directors and chairmen of all four boards will also be invited in the next meeting.

Opposition leader Ali Khursheedi stated that the committee was constituted by keeping in view the student's future. The responsibility of examining any problems in the results was entrusted to the committee.

He went on to say that the committee's TORs were discussed in the meeting, and conditions were set for the investigation.

The goal is to address the grievances of students who have faced injustices regarding their results.
