Donald Trump has officially begun his second, non-consecutive term as President of the United States, following his victory in the November election against Vice President Kamala Harris.

While Harris had the backing of A-list stars like Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez, their endorsements couldn’t secure a win against Trump.

As Trump’s presidency begins, several celebrities are reconsidering their place in the US. Some have already made moves, while others are voicing strong opinions. Here’s how the stars are reacting:

Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres is among the stars who have already left the US. The former talk show host and her wife, Portia de Rossi, relocated to the British Cotswolds last year. Known for its picturesque charm, their new neighbourhood includes A-listers like David Beckham, Kate Moss, and Jeremy Clarkson.

A source told the Daily Mail that Ellen’s decision might have been influenced by US politics, stating, “An enormous part of the US doesn't like her because of her sexual preferences, and others were turned off by her persona, which some perceived to be fake in the wake of the workplace allegations.” The source added, “She finds it easier to move away from her problems than to confront them.”

Whoopi Goldberg has long been vocal about her disdain for Trump. During his first campaign in 2016, she expressed on The View, “Maybe it’s time for me to move, you know. I can afford to go.” Despite later clarifying she wasn’t planning to relocate, Trump taunted her online, posting a meme with the caption, “Canada doesn’t want you Whoopi, NOBODY DOES!!!”

Her stance hasn’t softened over the years. She stated, “He’s the president. I’m still not going to say his name — that’s not going to change.”

Actress Eva Longoria has expressed her intent to move her family out of the US following Trump’s election. She plans to divide her time between Spain and Mexico, telling Marie Claire in November, “I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”

Longoria has been active in humanitarian efforts, recently pledging $1 million to the Latino Community Foundation and the California Community Foundation’s wildlife recovery fund.

Sophie Turner, who recently returned to the UK, shared her relief at leaving the US in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. She cited political issues like gun violence and the overturning of Roe v. Wade as reasons for her move. “The gun violence, Roe v. Wade being overturned ... everything just kind of piled on. I’m so happy to be back. It felt as if my life was on pause until I returned to England,” she explained.

Turner also admitted to indulging in British comforts, saying, “Every city we ended up in, the first thing I’d do was find a British shop and stock up on a month's worth of chocolate.”

America Ferrera is reportedly considering a move to the UK following Trump’s re-election. Sources revealed her dismay, stating, “America is sick that Donald Trump is President again. She is devastated that Kamala lost. She thought the country she lived in was better than that.”

Despite her reported disappointment, Ferrera plans to maintain her Hollywood career. Her representatives have yet to confirm these reports
