With completion of first phase of military operation in the district Kurram, the K-P government has decided to resume the process of demolition of illegal bunkers in the area and to dispatch four convoys of vehicles to Kurram carrying essential supplies by the end of this month.
The security forces have started house-to-house search operation in Bagan and the repair work of damaged mosques has also begun. The bullet ridden body of a fifth driver, who was missing after the attack on the aid caravan, was found from central Kurram. The bodies of four drivers had already been recovered day after the deadly attack.
The district Kurram deputy commissioner said the coordinated efforts of civil administration, police, security institutions and local advisers have translated into remarkable achievements during the first phase of operation as a large cache of illegal weapons was recovered. He said the efforts are underway to clear district Kurram from unscrupulous elements.
Meanwhile, a high-level meeting was held on Wednesday under the chair of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur to discuss the prevailing situation in the restive district Kurram.
The meeting was attended by the chief secretary, inspector general of police (IGP), additional chief secretary Home and other relevant officials. The huddle decided to resume the process of demolition of illegal bunkers in the area and to dispatch four convoys of vehicles to Kurram carrying essential supplies by the end of this month.
It also decided to convene a Jirga of the signatories of Kurram peace agreement with the aim to highlight and emphasis the responsibilities of the signatories for implementing the agreement.
