Three suspected hitmen hailing from Punjab were killed in an alleged shootout with police while attempting to kill a dairy shop owner and his son in North Karachi on Monday night.

According to Khawaja Ajmer Nagri DSP Salman Waheed, four hired assassins riding two motorcycles pulled up outside the shop to kill the shopkeeper, Yaqoob, and his son Jahanzeb in a busy neighbourhood of North Karachi. However, the local police were alerted which engaged the assailants in a gunfight, killing two of them on the spot and fatally injuring the third, who succumbed to his injuries later. The DSP added that the slain attackers have been identified as Gulfam, Kashif Waqas, and Aas Muhammad with the help of biometric verification. Their fourth accomplice managed to escape.
