The post received attention from fans, with some recalling the emotional depth of the film. One user mentioned, “A fine and very poignant film. Both you and Big B did very well. Sadly, the film was washed away with the July 26th rains.”

Another commented, “This movie was ahead of its time. If released now, you could have won a Filmfare.”

Virrudh focuses on an elderly couple coping with the murder of their son. Amitabh Bachchan’s role as Anusha's father-in-law was central to the plot.

The film, directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, also featured Sharmila Tagore, John Abraham, Sanjay Dutt, and Prem Chopra in pivotal roles.

Last year, as Virrudh marked its 19th anniversary, Anusha Dandekar paid tribute to the film and its team on Instagram, stating, “My first wedding, what a turnout! 19 years of Virrudh... What a beautiful film this was for so many, especially me. Thank you, Mahesh Manjrekar, for giving me such special films. I also get to say I worked with the greatest!”

Anusha Dandekar's career began with the television show MTV Dance Crew, and she later appeared in films like Delhi Belly and Mumbai Matinee.

Amitabh Bachchan, now 82, continues to be active in the film industry. His recent projects include Kalki 2898 AD and Vettaiyan, which was released in October 2024.
