The Sindh High Court’s Constitutional Bench has ordered the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and other relevant departments to submit a report within two weeks regarding commercial activities in a residential building on Burns Road.
The hearing, led by Justice KK Agha, addressed a petition concerning commercial activities in a residential building in the Burns Road area.
During the proceedings, the SBCA's lawyer informed the court that illegal shops had been sealed, but some individuals had reopened the shops by removing the seals.
Despite re-sealing, the seals were again broken, and the shops were reopened. Legal cases are now being registered against these individuals.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that the court had previously ordered SBCA to stop commercial activities in the residential building.
He also raised concerns that the building, which is part of an archaeological site, was being damaged by the construction of shops, posing a risk of collapse.
The court instructed that legal action be taken against those involved in the illegal activities, emphasizing that cases should be filed against individuals who violated the law.
The court also directed SBCA and other relevant authorities to submit a report within two weeks.
