Haggling over apple price claims fruit vendor's life

A fruit vendor was shot dead by a customer at Novelty Bridge after a dispute over the price of apples.

The police have taken the body into custody and started searching for the accused. Police said 35-year-old Shoaib Mehmood, a resident of Bahawalnagar Tehsil Chishtian, was parking a fruit cart at Novelty Bridge, area of D-Type Colony Police Station.

Two unidentified persons came to buy fruit and got into an argument over the price of apples at night.

During this time, the unidentified suspects shot the fruit vendor Shoaib, who was seriously injured due to a stomach injury.

The Rescue 1122 team was providing medical assistance and was transferring him to the Civil Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

On receiving information, SP Iqbal Town Abid Zafar, DSP Batala Colony Mian Munir Ahmed, SHO D-Type Colony and other police officers reached the spot.

The police took possession of the body of the deceased and transferred it to the Allied Hospital Mortuary Unit for postmortem and started searching for the accused.

Meanwhile, an unknown person mysteriously collapsed and died at Railway Station Chowk. Citizens informed the police after spotting his body. Tariqabad police swiftly reached the spot and took possession of the body and shifted it to the mortuary unit and started searching for his heirs.

An unidentified 40-year-old man collapsed and died while walking in the Railway Station Chowk area of Peoples Colony police station.

Passers-by who saw his body informed the police after which the police took possession of the body and shifted it to the Allied Hospital mortuary unit and started searching for his relatives.
