International conference on Sufi tradition begins

More than 100 delegates from India, Canada, Australia, England, Japan attending

LAHORE:

The 34th International Conference on Sufi tradition from Baba Farid till Ghulam Farid organised by World Punjabi Congress in Lahore has begun.

More than 100 International delegates from India, Canada, Australia, England & Japan are attending this 34th International Conference. The conference was inaugurated by the Chairman of WPC Fakhar Zaman. He welcomed all the delegates and reiterated his commitment in organizing more conferences in future.

Dr Deepak Manmohan Singh, President WPC Indian Chapter and Sehajpreet Singh Mangat Vice President & Coordinator Indian Chapter in their opening speeches complimented Fakhar Zaman for arranging this conference and also announced that they will try to hold next conference in India.

Papers were read regarding the topic of the conference and in the second half different poets recited their poetry.

Fakhar Zaman during his speech thanked Sehajpreet Mangat for his devotion and hard work in coordinating the Indian delegation, without which the participation of the Indian delegation would not have been possible.

Other speakers of the conference, including Gubhajan Singh Gill, Dr Sughra Sadaf, Baba Najmi demanded that the first ever Punjabi University in Lahore should be established immediately and that Punjabi should be taught at the primary level.

Other delegates mentioned that the visa process between Pakistan & India should be made easy so that more interaction between the people of the two countries can be made possible.

A documentary on Baba Farid by Farrukh Zaman will be shown on second day of the conference. Participants of the conference showed their satisfaction over the arrangements of this International moot.
