HYDERABAD:

GM Syed who spearheaded passing of a resolution in Sindh Assembly in 1943 in support of the 1940 Pakistan Resolution was remembered on his 121st birth anniversary.

The staunch Sindhi nationalist Jeay Sindh Tehreek fighting for the rights of the province over its resources also celebrated Syed's ideology for federalism where all nationalities and ethnic communities live in peace.

The Jeay Sindh Tehreek celebrated the 121st birth anniversary of G.M. Syed in Sann, Jamshoro district, on Friday by organising separate public meetings to pay tribute to the late nationalist leader.

Sindh United Party (SUP) leader Syed Zain Shah while addressing an event asked the establishment to plan and execute programmes for the good of 240 million people of the country instead of rarifying the prosperity for few.

On behalf of his party, he reiterated opposition to the proposed construction of six new canals on the Indus River. He reminded the establishment that the alleged fake elections in 2024 and the resultant governments have already imbued harsh feelings among the people while measures like denying due resources to the provinces are further alienating the population.

"It was G.M. Syed who spearheaded passing of a resolution in the then Sindh Assembly in 1943 in support of the 1940 Pakistan Resolution," he recalled. He also credited Syed for supporting the concept of a federation where several nations lived in peace and harmony.
