ISLAMABAD:

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb on Thursday reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to maintaining the trust and credibility of its bilateral and multilateral development partners, including Japan.

The minister made these remarks during a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Akamatsu Shuichi, who called on him in Islamabad, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance. Welcoming Shuichi to his diplomatic role, Aurangzeb commended Japan's longstanding partnership with Pakistan.

Aurangzeb expressed appreciation for Japan's diplomatic, economic, and technical support while urging Japanese investors to explore opportunities in Pakistan, particularly in the manufacturing and production sectors, which would help boost the country's exportable surplus.

The minister highlighted positive developments in Pakistan's macroeconomic stability, attributing them to key reforms and structural adjustments across various sectors, including fiscal frameworks, taxation, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), energy policies, federal government rightsizing, and privatisation initiatives.

He emphasised the government's commitment to continuing its reform agenda, focusing on critical issues such as population growth and climate change vulnerability.

Acknowledging Japan's valuable contributions, Aurangzeb assured the Ambassador of Pakistan's continued engagement with Japanese investors, ensuring their input would be incorporated into the upcoming federal budget's policy framework.
